This policy explains how LH Building and Maintenance handles personal information when you use lhbandm.co.uk, ask for a quote, or get in touch about a job. It is written for customers and enquirers in the UK.
Who we are
LH Building and Maintenance is the data controller for the information described here. We are based at 3 Roebuck Rd, Faversham, Kent, ME13 7PE. You can call 07842 946 138 or email [email protected].
Lee Harrison deals with privacy questions. There is no separate data-protection officer.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to reply to you and to carry out work you ask us to do.
- Identity and contact details: your name, phone number, email address and town.
- Enquiry details: the service you need, an optional budget, and the description of the work you send through the quote form, by email or by phone.
- Job records: quotes, messages, site notes, invoices and photographs of work, where those records include something that identifies you or your property.
- Technical information: the address of the page you requested and the time of the request, kept in the host’s server log so the site can be kept online and faults can be traced.
We do not ask for payment-card details through this website. We do not run customer accounts, and we do not buy marketing lists.
How we use it, and why
We use your details for these purposes:
- To answer an enquiry and prepare a quote. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract.
- To plan, carry out and invoice work you have asked us to do. The lawful basis is the contract between us.
- To keep records we need for tax, insurance and any dispute about the work. The lawful basis is a legal obligation, or our legitimate interest in showing what was agreed and done.
- To keep the website available and to deal with misuse. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a reliable site. That interest does not override your rights, because the log is short and is not used to build a profile of you.
The quote form includes a tick box so you can agree to us contacting you about that enquiry. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to other companies for their own marketing.
The quote form is delivered by Formspree, which receives the submission so it can be emailed to us. Formspree processes that information on our behalf. Because Formspree is based in the United States, the contents of the form may be processed outside the UK. We send only what you type into the form.
If a job needs a specialist we do not employ, we share only the details that person needs to do their part of the work, and only once you have asked us to go ahead.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example to HMRC or to an insurer dealing with a claim.
Google Fonts supplies the typeface used on this site, and some pages embed a Google Map. Those services receive your IP address when your browser loads them. They are described in the cookie policy. Links to Facebook and Instagram leave this site. Those companies only receive information from you if you choose to visit them.
How long we keep it
Enquiry emails and form submissions are kept while the quote is open, and then for up to two years in case you come back to the same job. If the work goes ahead, quotes, invoices and related messages are kept for six years after the job ends, which covers the period we may need them for tax and for a contractual claim.
Server logs are kept only for the short period the host uses to operate and protect the site. You can ask us to delete an enquiry that has not become a job by emailing [email protected].
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry email is stored in the mailbox we use for the business, and access to that mailbox is limited to Lee Harrison. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please do not include anything in a form that you would not put in an email.
Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you can ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold information about you, and for a copy of it.
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete information we no longer need, or where you object and we have no overriding reason to keep it.
- Restrict how we use information while a correction or objection is being considered.
- Receive information you gave us, in a common format, where we are processing it by automated means for a contract.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected] or write to 3 Roebuck Rd, Faversham ME13 7PE. We may need to confirm it is you before we act. We aim to reply within one month.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would like the chance to put things right first.
Children
This website is aimed at homeowners and people responsible for a property. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Cookies
We do not set our own advertising or analytics cookies. Some parts of the site load Google services, which can store cookies on your device. What those are, and how to control them, is set out in the cookie policy.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date at the top. The previous version is replaced by the page you are reading.
